UMBILICAL HERNIA TREATMENT There are two types of surgeries that are offered for patients suffering from umbilical hernias. Open umbilical hernia repair with mesh and the other most common type of surgery is Laparoscopic umbilical hernia repair with mesh. Broadly these surgeries based on the technique can be classified as OPEN SURGERY and MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY. UMBILICAL HERNIA It is a condition in which the intestine extends beyond or above the surface of the belly button (navel). In general, an umbilical hernia occurs when part of the bowel or fatty tissue pushes through a weak spot in the abdomen near the belly button.
